Our Farm Team
Judy Hartline, Farm Manager
Judy was born and raised in Albuquerque’s North Valley, and began farming in 2008 at a locally-owned farm in Corrales. At that farm she learned the basics of organic and regenerative growing practices that she utilizes to this day. Judy is involved with all of the planning, seeding, transplanting, planting and harvesting of the vegetables, herbs and fruits grown on the farm and on the property. Her knowledge of holistic growing practices has improved and increased over the years as she has worked on other farms learning from many skilled and knowledgeable farmers in the area before joining the Los Poblanos team. Her focus at Los Poblanos is not only to provide fresh, delicious food to the restaurant, but to also contribute to, and advocate for the local food economy.
Maxfield Bervig, Gardens & Landscape Manager
Maxfield made his way to the Rio Grande Valley from Oakland, California as a child and has remained in the Land of Enchantment ever since. He grew up gardening with his mom and that led him to volunteer at Los Poblanos. The following year he began an internship on the farm while also attending the University of New Mexico. With his passion for farming growing stronger every year, he began work on multiple farms, including Tres Hermanas Farm. While there, he worked with refugees and asylees from Africa and the Middle East growing their native vegetables, introducing them to the New Mexican way of farming and assessing Albuquerque’s thriving farmer’s market community. As the Farm Manager at Los Poblanos, Maxfield oversees planning, growing and harvesting including lavender, decorative and edible flower, herbs and vegetables to supply the Inn, Hacienda Spa, Farm Shop and Campo throughout the year.
Jamie Lord, Lead Distiller
A native Burqueña, Jamie has a dynamic history - from managing high-end salons to becoming a cosmetologist and owning her own business. She's also worked as a sound and lighting tech at some of the best-known nightclubs in town. Jamie dives headfirst into any learning experience she encounters, as demonstrated in her experience with Los Poblanos. In 2014, Jamie began working with the Wholesale Lavender Team, hoping to utilize her background in cosmetology. During her first lavender season, she was given the opportunity to shadow our owner Armin Rembe, who planted our first lavender in 1999. Jamie learned the art of essential oil distillation from Armin and soon became our distiller. Throughout the summer, Jamie keeps the Los Poblanos alembic copper stills busy with lavender distillation. She experiments with other botanicals throughout the year and distills Los Poblanos Botanical Gin at Town & Ranch distillery. Jamie is constantly studying the botanical potential of the property for her next inspiration.
